Despesa federal dos EUA aumenta apesar dos cortes de Musk

March 13, 2025 - Elon Musk, que dirige o Departamento de Eficiência do Governo (DOGE) da admistração Trump, não conseguiu evitar que a despesa federal dos EUA atingisse um novo máximo para o mês de fevereiro.

Elon Musk’s cuts have failed to stop U.S. federal spending hitting a new record high for the month of February, with outlay spending rising to $603.4 billion – up 6% on the same period last year.

Musk, who heads up the Trump administration’s so called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), claims to have already made more than $100bn of savings in little over a month – although this figure is disputed.

It’s believed an estimated 220,000 federal jobs have been axed by DOGE so far this year, with more expected as agencies feel compelled to initiate budget reductions.
