Maersk vai operar o primneiro grande navio a metanol
December 13, 2023 - O grande armador dinamarquês Maersk anunciou que vai começar a operar o primeiro de 18 grandes porta-contentores a metanol na rota comercial Ásia-Europa.
The container vessel built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea has a nominal capacity of 16,000 containers and is equipped with a dual-fuel engine enabling operations on methanol as well as biodiesel and conventional fuel, according to Maersk.
Green methanol, produced either from biomass or captured carbon and hydrogen from renewable power, can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from container ships by 60% to 95% compared with conventional fossil fuels, Reuters said.
