December 31, 2023 - A indústria cinematográfica teve este ano que enfrentar as greves de atores e argumentistas. Mas as disputas da WGA e SAG-AFTRA, que causaram atrasos de produção, estão agora terminadas. O próximo ano traza a segunda parte da epopeia de ficção científica de Frank Herbert, Duna, uma muito aguardada adaptação musical de Meninas Más, um novo filme Alien e muito mais.

1. Dune: Part Two. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård. Villeneuve tells the second half of Frank Herbert’s epic sci-fi novel.

2. Mickey 17. Directed by Bong Joon-ho, starring: Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, Steven Yeun. South Korea’s Bong follows up his Academy Award-winning film Parasite with an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s sci-fi novel about expendable clones sent to colonise distant worlds.

3. Gladiator 2. Directed by Ridley Scott, starring: Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Djimon Hounsou, Joseph Quinn, Derek Jacobi. Sequel to Scott’s epic Gladiator sees Lucius (Mescal) who has become emperor, and the return of Nielsen as Lucilla.

4. Garfield. Directed by Mark Dindal, starring: Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Hannah Waddingham, and Ving Rhames. The lasagne-loving, Monday-hating cat, Garfield, goes on a hilarious adventure in a new movie adaptation of Jim Davis’ long-running comic strip.

5. Mean Girls. Directed by Arturo Perez Jr., Samantha Jayne, starring: Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, Auli’i Cravalho, Bebe Wood, Jaquel Spivey, Tina Fey, Tim Meadows, Jenna Fischer, Jon Hamm, Ashley Park. Rice plays new girl Cady Heron, while Rapp takes on the role of head Mean Girl Regina George.

6. Joker: Folie à Deux. Directed by Todd Phillips, starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson. Phoenix returns as the Batman villain after winning the Academy Award for Best Actor in Phillips’ 2019 original.

7. Beetlejuice 2. Directed by Tim Burton, starring: Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Belluci, Willem Dafoe. Keaton returns to the iconic character in Burton’s sequel to his 1988 Beetlejuice

8. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Directed by Gil Kenan, starring: Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon, Annie Potts, Paul Rudd. Four decades after Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd’s original, Ghostbusters new and old join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.

9. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Directed by George Miller, starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson. Miller returns to the iconic dystopian world he created more than 30 years ago with his seminal “Mad Max” films. Anya Taylor-Joy finds herself caught in the crossfire between two tyrannical warlords.

10. Alien: Romulus. Directed by Fede Álvarez, starring: Isabela Merced, Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux. Álvarez’s standalone instalment in the Alien franchise will take place between the events of Ridley Scott’s 1979’s Alien, and the 1986 sequel Aliens.

11. Nosferatu. Directed by Robert Eggers, starring: Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe. Eggers’ remake of the classic 1922 vampire film of the same name, centres on a young woman (Depp) and the vampire (Skarsgård) who is infatuated with her.
