China lidera na produção de energia solar

By Ninian Carter

November 27, 2023 - A produção global de energia solar deverá ter um aumento de 64% em
2023, largamente graças à maior utilização na China onde as regiões
remotas estão a acolher vastos projetos de energia verde.

At COP28, nearly 200 countries will review progress made to meet the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement – an international treaty on climate change.

The prime objective is to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels – a target that looks increasingly unattainable as nations fail to lower green-house gas emissions enough.

The annual event, hosted this year by the UAE, comes at a time when the Earth is witnessing scorching heatwaves, devastating wildfires and shrinking shipping waterways.

However, one positive story emerging from all the chaos comes from the global solar power industry, which has seen the amount of solar power generated leap by 64% in 2023 – largely thanks to increases in China, where President Xi Jinping is using remote regions to host vast green projects.

Furthermore, the amount of gigawatts of electricity generated globally is forecast to continue increasing. In 2020, that figure was 146GW; in 2030 it’s forecast to be 728GW – an increase of almost 400% in just 10 years.
