U.S. President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, are preparing for their first summit meeting in San Francisco on November 15 on the sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Summit.
Beijing is ready to hold talks with the United States at “all levels”, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said on Wednesday as the geopolitical rivals seek to stabilise tense ties.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a group of 21 member economies that account for about 62% of global GDP and almost half of international trade.
The Pew Research Center said in a report released on Monday that data collected from two dozen countries shows President Biden is winning the battle for public opinion.
“A median of 54% have confidence in Biden to do the right thing regarding world affairs, compared with 19% who say the same of Xi, Pew said.”
“A median of 59% offer positive evaluations of the U.S., compared with a median of 28% who say the same of China,” Pew also said.
