Trump ahead of Biden in battleground state polls
November 6, 2023 - One year before the U.S. election, Democratic President Joe Biden trails Republican frontrunner Donald Trump in five of the six most important swing states.
Political strategist David Axelrod, best known for orchestrating Barack Obama’s successful 2008 and 2012 presidential election campaigns, says that President Joe Biden needs to think carefully about whether he should continue to seek re-election.
Axelrod made the comment following new polls from The New York Times/Siena College that show Biden struggling in key battleground states against former President Donald Trump.
The polls show Biden losing to Trump, his anticipated Republican rival, by margins of four to 10 percentage points in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania – Biden is only ahead in Wisconsin by two percentage points.
Both Biden and Trump are deeply unpopular, according to the poll, with voters believing the United States is on the wrong track – therefore taking out their frustrations on the incumbent leader.
