Londres passa a ser a maior zona de baixas emissões do mundo

By Ninian Carter

August 29, 2023 - Os condutores de veículos mais poluentes têm agora que pagar uma taxa para entrar em qualquer parte da capital britânica, no âmbito da
contenciosa expansão da Zona de Ultra Baixas Emissões (ZUBE).

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) has been expanded to include all of the UK capital’s boroughs.

Drivers of non-compliant vehicles – generally older models with harmful exhaust emissions – must pay a charge of £12.50 ($15.75, €14.60) per day to drive in the zone under the clean-air plan.

Payments must be made online or by telephone no later than three days after travel. Alternatively, motorists can sign-up for an auto-pay account on the Transport for London (TfL) website, where they will be automatically charged and negate facing penalties for forgetting to pay on time.

TfL is installing 2,750 new cameras across outer London to monitor the expanded zone, with some 1,900 erected thus far.

Conservative mayoral candidate Susan Hall has pledged to reverse the ULEZ expansion if she is elected mayor next year.
