Tufão Lan interrompe voos
August 16, 2023 -
O Japão cancelou quase 900 voos e ordenou a evacuação de 240.000
pessoas enquanto o tufão Lan de movimento lento atravessou a ilha de
Honshu, cortando a eletricidade a dezenas de milhares de casas.
Typhoon Lan made landfall early on Tuesday, some 400km (250 miles) southwest of Tokyo, bringing heavy rain and powerful winds and forcing authorities to issue flood and landslide alerts.
The typhoon -- which followed closely on the heels of Typhoon Khanun during Japan’s peak Obon holiday season -- Typhoon Lan had sustained winds of 150km/h (93mph) and moved northwest across the main island of Honshu.
According to Japan’s weather agency, it reached the Sea of Japan early Wednesday and continues north along the sea.
