Ron DeSantis entra nas presidenciais de 2024

May 25, 2023 - O governador da Florida, Ron DeSantis, deverá entar oficialmente na corrida presidencial dos EUA, tornando-se o maior rival de Donald Trump para a nomeação republicana.

DeSantis is a clear second in Republican primary polling, though he has fallen far behind the frontrunner, the former president Donald Trump. The RealClearPolitics polling average puts Trump more than 30 points ahead.

DeSantis will likely file paperwork declaring his candidacy on May 25 to coincide with a donor meeting in Miami, with a more formal launch the week of May 29, according to a source.

Declared candidates include the former South Carolina governor and UN ambassador Nikki Haley and Asa Hutchinson, a former governor of Arkansas. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina is also expected to announce his candidacy for president on May 22. Mike Pence, a former Indiana governor and Trump’s vice-president, is reported to be close to announcing.
