Agenda ambiciosa de Biden na visita ao Indo-Pacífico
May 18, 2023 - A viagem a três países do Presidente Joe Biden dos EUA será dominada pela crescente afirmação da China na região do Indo-Pacífico.
The U.S. president is scheduled to depart Washington for Hiroshima on May 17 to attend a meeting of the Group of Seven leaders.
On May 22 he is to continue to Sydney for the Quad Summit with a brief stop in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, to meet with Pacific Island Forum leaders.
The meetings have been billed as opportunities to deepen cooperation on regional challenges and advance U.S. strategic interests in countering China’s influence.
The three-country trip also presents the 80-year-old Biden, who recently announced he’s running for reelection, with the opportunity to demonstrate that he still has enough in the tank to handle the gruelling pace of the presidency.
