Relatório de situação da guerra na Ucrânia - dia 436

By Phil Bainbridge

May 5, 2023 - O antigo Presidente Bill Clinton dos EUA disse que sabia em 2011 que era “uma questão de tempo” até Putine invadir a Ucrânia, após uma conversa com o líder russo.

Clinton oversaw a U.S.-brokered deal with Russian president Boris Yeltsin to respect Ukrainian territory in exchange for Kyiv relinquishing its Soviet-era nuclear arsenal. Putin allegedly explained that “I don’t agree with it. And I do not support it. And I am not bound by it”.

Moscow’s claim that the U.S was behind the drone attacks on the Kremlin in an attempt to assassinate Putin has been dismissed as ludicrous by the White House. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said “Decisions about such terrorist attacks are taken in Washington” ...Kyiv “just implements these decisions”.

Moscow may use the drone attack as an excuse to cancel May 9 Victory Day parades which could reveal extent of military losses. The parades typically showcase the most advanced Russian military equipment, most of which is either critical to operations in Ukraine or has been destroyed in the conflict. Celebrations honouring deceased servicemen could also become a focal point for domestic dissent due to the high but unreleased casualty figures.
