Two other monasteries in western Ukraine were also searched according to the SBU. In May, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate cut ties to the Russian Orthodox Church and its head Patriarch Kirill over their support for Moscow's “special military operation”.
In Belgorod, Russia, scaremongering claims of an imminent Ukrainian attack, aimed to reinvigorate public support for the war in Ukraine, are being accompanied by fortification of the “Zasechnaya Line” defences along the border between the two countries. Formerly known as the “Wagner line”, the name was changed as “many people do not like the activity of private military company Wagner”. Private military companies are technically banned by Russian law, although Wagner Group has been able to act with impunity in Ukraine.
