Sondagem – Curta vantagem para o "Sim" à independência da Escócia

By Ninian Carter

July 4, 2022 - Uma nova sondagem mostra a Escócia dividida na questão da independência, com curta vantagem para os independentistas.

Somewhat predictably, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has hailed a poll on Scottish independence which finds the “Yes” campaign has a narrow one percent lead.

The survey by The Sunday Times/Panelbase finds 48% of Scots in favour of independence while 47% are against it (5% are undecided).

However, the same poll also finds voters in Scotland split over whether a second referendum on independence should take place at all on October 19, 2023, with 44% against the motion and 43% in favour.

In 2014, the “No” campaign defeated a vote on Scottish independence with 55%, compared to the “Yes” campaign’s 45%.

Sturgeon argues a new referendum is justified because of a “material change of circumstances” caused by Brexit. The UK voted to leave the European Union in a 2016 referendum, but 62 percent of Scottish voters were opposed to it.

Panelbase poll of 1,010 voters in Scotland, Jun 29 - Jul 1, 2022.
