Novak Djokovic will seek a seventh Wimbledon crown but faces a sharp descent from the top of the world’s elite after the tournament was stripped of ranking points following its decision to ban players from Russia and Belarus.

The Serbian’s ranking crisis compounded by missing Australian Open over visa row, and early exit at Roland Garros. Further complications could follow in August as he may be denied entry into the United States to compete in the U.S. Open.

Eight-time champion Roger Federer is absent from Wimbledon for first time since 1998. Apart from Federer, no player other than Nadal Djokovic or Andy Murray has secured victory on Centre Court since Lleyton Hewitt in 2002.
