Artilharia alemã em ação na Ucrânia

By Duncan Mil

June 22, 2022 - Os obuses autopropulsionados PzH 2000 alemães – uma das mais
poderosas armas de artilaria no arsenal da Bundeswehr – chegaram à
Ucrânia na primeira entrega de armas pesadas de Berlim.

German PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers – one of the most potent artillery weapons in the Bundeswehr’s arsenal – have arrived in Ukraine in the first delivery of heavy weapons from Berlin.

Ukraine said Tuesday (June 21, 2022) that it had “finally” deployed an advanced German artillery system in the latest delivery of the long-range, precision weapons it has requested.

“Panzerhaubitze 2000 with trained Ukrainian crews joined the Ukrainian artillery family,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said on social media, thanking his German counterpart Christine Lambrecht.

Germany said it would send seven self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine last May, adding to five such artillery systems the Netherlands has promised and ramping up deliveries of heavy weapons to help Kyiv battle Russia’s invasion.

The German army has about 100 PzH 2000s in its stocks, but only 40 are combat-ready.

The United States, France and other Ukraine allies have vowed further supplies of heavy weapons for Kyiv, and deliveries from Washington are also due in Ukraine this month.

The West has sent weapons into Ukraine to help it fight the Kremlin forces, but Kyiv complains it has only received a fraction of what it needs. Kyiv has called for 1,000 howitzers, 500 tanks and 1,000 drones, among other heavy weapons, to repel Russian troops, which invaded the country on February 24.
