Homem-Aranha: Sem Volta a Casa com bilheteira de estreia recorde

By Duncan Mil

December 20, 2021 - Homem-Aranha: Sem Volta a Casa da Sony and Marvel – o primeiro filme da era pandémica a ultrapassar os $100 milhões no fim de semana de estreia – torna-se a terceira maior estreia na história das bilheteiras.

For months, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe speculated, theorised, and freeze-framed video teasers of “No Way Home.” Now, they have flocked to see the new release as quickly as possible despite growing worries over the coronavirus Omicron variant.

Directed by Jon Watts, critics have generally reacted favourably to Tom Holland’s performance as Peter Parker -- his third solo Spider-Man film. “No Way Home” picks up after Peter Parker’s superhero identity is revealed in the 2019 “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

With a domestic opening day of $121.5 million on Friday (December 17), the opening weekend numbers snowballed to $253 million in the U.S. and Canada.

Overseas -- where the Omicron variant is even more of a concern, particularly in Europe -- the movie also made history, grossing $334.2 million for a global total of $587.2 million. That’s the third-highest international opening ever, not adjusted for inflation.

“Avengers: Endgame” leads the list of all-time domestic openings with $357.1 million, followed by “Avengers: Infinity War” ($257.7 million), “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($248 million), “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” ($220 million) and “Jurassic World” ($208.8 million), not adjusted for inflation.
