Egipto está a construir nova capital
January 6, 2020 -
A nova capital administrativa do Egipto está a ser construída de raíz
no deserto, 35km a leste do Cairo. Ocupando 700 quilómetros quadrados, a cidade é concebida para aliviar a congestão na capital atual.
The project, launched in 2015 by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, aims to offer a clean and efficient base for the government and finance industry, as well as homes for at least 6.5 million people, Reuters said.
The first phase, covering about 168 square km, will have ministries, residential neighbourhoods, a diplomatic quarter and a financial district. A large mosque and cathedral, as well a hotel and conference centre, have already been built.
The Egyptian government plans to start running the country from the new capital from mid-2020.
