As principais competições foram o Mundial de Râguebi no Japão, o Mundial de Críquete em Inglaterra e o Mundial de Futebol Feminino em França. Entre os atletas que conseguiram grandes feitos estiveram a ginasta Simone Biles, os tenistas Rafael Nadal e Novak Djokovic, o ciclista Egan Bernal, os golfistas Tiger Woods e Shane Lowry, o maratonista Eliud Kipchoge e o piloto de F1 Lewis Hamilton.
