Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge is a long distance runner and seven-time world major marathon champion -- winning the Chicago race in 2014, and marathons in both London and Berlin three times apiece. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Kipchoge won gold ahead of Ethiopian rival, Feyisa Lilesa.
Kipchoge ran the fastest unofficial men’s marathon time in May 2017, at a Nike trial in Monza, Italy, clocking 2:00.25 with the assistance of pacemakers.
