Graphic News

March 18-November 18, 2018 -- The 2018 MotoGP season comprises 19 Grands Prix, commencing with the Qatar GP in March and concluding in Valencia, Spain in November. The season has expanded to feature the exciting Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand.

MotoGP is the premier class of motorcycle racing, created following the coordination of rules and regulations when the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme was founded in 1949.

There are 19 Grands Prix in the 2018 season, each contested on tarmac circuits, typically 4-5 km long, with a total race distance of between 110 and 120km, taking around 40 minutes to complete.

The bikes use the latest electronic control technology and are built for racing - they can not be ridden legally on public roads and are not available for purchase by the general public. They have a four-cylinder engine with a maximum bore size of 81mm, achieving a maximum output of over 240hp and reach speeds of over 340km/h.

Each rider is allocated seven engines per season, with no development work permitted during the season. There is also a strict allocation of tyres.
