A light-year is the distance light travels in one year. Light zips through interstellar space at 300,000 kilometres per second – 9.46 trillion kilometres a year.
Scientists have discovered two chemicals in the atmosphere of K2-18b orbits, a large planet orbiting a red dwarf star in the Leo constellation, that on Earth are only known to be produced by life – dimethyl sulphide and dimethyl disulphide.
