Tientallen gewonden in München door auto die op mensen op rally inrijdt

By Jordi Bou

February 13, 2025 - At least 28 people have been injured after a car drove into a crowd at a trade union rally in Munich as the German city prepares to host a top-level security conference.

More than two dozen people, including children, were injured when a car crashed into a union demonstration in Munich, and the driver, a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who was known to the police, was taken into custody, the authorities said.

The suspected attack comes 10 days before Germany’s federal election, in which security has become a central issue, and follows a string of violent attacks in the country.

The incident occurred around 1.5 kilometres from the venue of the Munich Security Conference, which opens tomorrow and attracts high-profile participants and journalists from around the world.
