January 20, 2025 - A journey through time, charting all 47 U.S. presidents (when including Trump’s second term) and their years in office. President-elect Donald Trump will be sworn into office on Jan 20, 2025, only the second president in history to lose a re-election bid and then later regain the presidency.
As the head of the government of the United States, the president is arguably the most powerful government official in the world.
They are elected to a four-year term of office via an electoral college system.
Since the 22nd Amendment was adopted in 1951, the presidency has been limited to a maximum of two terms.
On January 20, 2025, 45th president Donald Trump will become the 47th president of the United States, after Joe Biden’s one term in office as the 46th president.
He is the second president in history to lose a re-election bid only to later regain the presidency. In 1885, Grover Cleveland was the first to do so.
