Trumps strafzaken

By Duncan Mil

May 31, 2024 - Donald Trump’s conviction on all 34 state felony counts in New York marks the close of the trial stage in the hush-money case, but a trio of prosecutions continue to loom over the former president.

The jury delivered their verdict on charges of falsifying business records late Thursday afternoon (May 30), after two days of deliberations that spanned more than nine hours.

Now comes the sentencing on July 11, and the potential for a prison sentence. However, Trump’s attorneys have vowed to appeal the verdict. Trump angrily denounced the trial as a “disgrace,” telling reporters he’s an “innocent man.”

Falsifying business records is the lowest tier of felony charges in New York state. It is punishable by up to four years in prison, though the judge would ultimately decide, and there’s no guarantee he would give Trump jail time.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has declined to say whether prosecutors would seek prison time. Trump also faces the threat of prison time in three other criminal cases involving appeals and other legal fights.

The hush-money conviction doesn’t bar Trump from continuing his campaign or becoming president.
