PARIJS 2024
Olympisch wielrennen Mountainbike
July 26, 2024 - August 11, 2024 - The 2024 summer Olympic Games, the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, take place in Paris, France. The Mountain Bike event will take place at Elancourt Hill, the highest point in the Paris region. The track has been designed by South African Nick Floros, who also designed the courses in Tokyo and Rio. The Paris 2024 course consists of a 4.4km circuit which has an elevation of 110m.
There are two cross-country mountain bike events: one for women and one for men. Riders set off from the same starting line and contest multiple laps around a loop on mountainous, rough terrain that tests their technique, endurance, and stamina.
Races feature a mass start and, in general, multiple laps. Riders take one to two hours to complete an intense course full of twists and turns, covering tens of kilometres during the event.
The number of laps is not decided until the afternoon before the first competition day.
If a rider is lapped, or their time is 80% slower than the leader's first lap, they are eliminated.
