Hollywood veert op na stakingszomer
April 26, 2024 - Despite last year’s writers’ and actors’ strikes, which shuttered productions for months, Hollywood has managed to populate the summer schedule with a bumper harvest of action-adventure, comedy, romance, family films, horror, and returning franchises.
In 2023, the movie industry bounced back from the Covid-19 slump in style with the double-whammy box office phenomenon that was “Barbenheimer”.
But then, in the grip of dual writers and actors strikes, Hollywood was forced to shutter most productions for months – throwing into jeopardy releases originally pegged for 2024.
True, delays mean movies such as “Mission: Impossible 8” and “Captain America: Brave New World” have been bumped to 2025. But despite a hurriedly rejigged release schedule, movie fans still have a lot to look forward to this year with a host of action-adventure, comedy, romance, family films, horror, and returning franchises populating cinemas throughout the summer.
