January 15, 2024 - Former President Donald Trump looks set to open the primaries for the Republican nomination with a big win in the Iowa caucus, with polls showing him on over 50%.

Nikki Haley has taken a lead over Florida governor Ron DeSantis after the two clashed in their bitter pre-caucus debate, while Vivek Ramswamy, who failed to qualify for the debate due to polling below 10%, has nevertheless seen his popularity rise slightly ahead of the opening vote.

Trump himself opted not to attend any of the debates, despite reportedly seeing his lead in New Hampshire cut to single digits by Haley, and is running campaign rallies instead.
