Toezeggingen voor hulp aan Oekraïne dalen naar laagste niveau sinds Russische invasie

December 11, 2023 - Newly committed aid to Ukraine has dropped to the lowest level since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, highlighting concerns over wavering support from Kyiv’s Western allies.

Fresh support fell almost 90% between August and October from the the same period a year ago to €2.11 billion ($2.3 billion), according to data tracked by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

The report comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is heading to Washington DC as he seeks to rescue a $60bn (€55bn) U.S. defence aid package, currently stalled in Congress

Support from the European Union is also looking increasingly shaky after Hungary threatened to torpedo a summit in Brussels on Dec 14, where a $53 billion package of financial assistance – in loans and grants – is going to be discussed.
