Trumps mogelijke mede-samenzweerders
August 3, 2023 - The latest indictment against former President Donald Trump accuses six unnamed co-conspirators of assisting in alleged attempts to reverse his defeat in the 2020 election.
U.S. Special Counsel Jack Smith has not named the six alleged co-conspirators. Still, media reports have identified the likely conspirators based on descriptions in his indictment.
Detailed descriptions of the actions of five of the people all but directly identify some of Trump’s closest associates -- all of who have denied wrongdoing.
Media outlets have identified the five co-conspirators as possibly Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s former personal attorney; White House lawyer John Eastman; Trump attorney, Sidney Powell; former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark; and attorney Kenneth Chesebro.
The description of the sixth co-conspirator is a “political consultant who helped implement a plan to submit fraudulent slates of presidential electors to obstruct the certification proceeding” and is not immediately apparent.
The indictment gives few details beyond references that the political consultant identified attorneys who could help carry out a scheme to present fake electors to Congress as lawmakers certified the election results.
