Londen krijgt meeste hotelkamers buiten China

April 27, 2023 - The UK capital is on the verge of becoming the city with the most hotel rooms outside of China with an 18% increase, growth matched only by Dubai.

While the standout leaders remain Shanghai and Beijing, with 346,000 and 323,500 rooms respectively, third and fourth placed Las Vegas and Tokyo look set to fall down the ranking. London’s hotels have been boosted by controls on short-term Airbnb-style rentals to just 90 days per year, and the cheap pound post-Brexit making it a more affordable destination for foreign tourists.

London has the highest number of luxury hotels of any major city, and room rates in December surged to around 31% higher than pre-Covid.
