Russische invasie: Situatie dag 383

By Phil Bainbridge

March 13, 2023 - Ukrainian forces are repelling Russian attempts to cross the Bakhmutka
River to the western side of Bakhmut, with both sides claiming mounting enemy loses

According to assessments by the Institute for Study of War, the Russian Ministry of Defence may be trying to expend elite and convict Wagner Group forces in battle with Ukrainian troops, to derail leader Yevgeny Prigozhin’s political ambitions. Prigozhin has been a vocal critic of the MoD and the military leadership, and its believed Vladimir Putin may have also seen Prigozhin as a political threat and sought to manage the situation by allowing the MoD to retake control of the operation in Bakhmut as Prigozhin’s promised victory there failed to materialise.
