Videospel Hogwarts haalt in twee weken $850m binnen

February 28, 2023 - In its first two weeks on sale, the “Hogwarts Legacy” video game has sold more than 12 million units – earning Warner Brothers over $850 million.

The new “Hogwarts Legacy” video game sold 12 million units in the first two weeks of launching, earning Warner Bros. Games an impressive $850 million.

This makes the game Warner’s biggest ever global launch and puts it amongst some of the fastest-selling video games ever – such as Grand Theft Auto V, which earned $1 billion within three days of launch in 2013, and Cyberpunk 2077, which sold more than 13 million copies within the first three weeks of its release in 2021.

Hogwarts Legacy, out for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, puts players at the centre of an adventure set in the 1800s, allowing them to embark on an epic journey as a fifth-year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Latest estimates value global video game industry earnings at $175 billion per year – nearly seven times the $26 billion movie industry global box office haul in 2022.
