February 17, 2023 - Three crowns will be worn by King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort, during the ceremony at London’s Westminster Abbey.

As per tradition, King Charles III will be crowned with St Edward's Crown during the Coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023.

St Edward’s Crown is regarded as the centrepiece of the Crown Jewels collection.Weighing 2.2kg and made of solid gold, the crown has 444 gemstones, including rubies, sapphires, garnets and tourmalines.

Towards the end of the coronation ceremony, and at the appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony, the King will also wear the Imperial State Crown.

Camilla, the Queen Consort, will be crowned with Queen Mary's Crown.

However, the controversial Koh-i-noor diamond will not feature in the crown, with Camilla opting to reuse the crown it was once set in instead.

The huge diamond took pride of place at the front of Queen Mary’s crown for her coronation in 1911.

India claims ownership of the 105-carat jewel, which was given to Queen Victoria during the Raj.
