Situatie Oekraïne dag 268

November 18, 2022 - Russian air and cruise missile strikes have targeted critical civilian infrastructure in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa and Zaporizhya, leaving 10 million Ukrainians without power as the first winter snow falls on Kyiv.

Four cruise missiles, five Shahed-136 drones and two Kh-59 guided missiles were downed by Ukrainain air defence. While these campaigns are further depleting Russia’s shrinking store of precision munitions, they are depriving around one in four Ukrainians of power just as temperatures drop. Moscow has blamed civilian suffering on Kyiv’s refusal to negotiate.

Following the withdrawal from Kherson, redeployed Russian units appear to be attempting to cross the border of Donetsk Oblast near Donetsk in some of the fiercest fighting of the war so far, with 500 combat clashes in the last week alone.

However Russian sources believe Ukraine may be preparing for a large-scale offensive in Luhansk Oblast, where Russian defences have been tested.
