Nieuwe pijpleiding moet afhankelijkheid van Russisch gas verminderen
October 10, 2022 - The Baltic Pipe project started pumping gas to Poland, four days after sabotage attacks damaged the Nord Stream network and terminated Russia’s biggest supply route to Europe.
The 900km pipeline pumps gas from Norway to Denmark and via the Baltic Sea to Poland. It also enables gas to flow to Denmark from Poland, according to Reuters.
The link has a capacity to transport 10 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas a year to Poland – equal to half of its gas consumption in 2021 – and 3 bcm a year from Poland to Denmark.
The project crosses the damaged Nord Stream pipelines around the island of Bornholm, off the coast of Denmark, Reuters said.
