Meer Russen verlaten land om mobilisatiebevel te ontlopen

October 5, 2022 - More Russians have left the country than have joined the military since President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilisation to bolster his forces in Ukraine.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said more than 200,000 people have been conscripted into the army since Putin’s Sep. 21 order for a partial call-up, according to Bloomberg.

That matches an exodus of more than 200,000 Russians to neighbouring Kazakhstan alone over the same period. Almost 69,000 Russians crossed into Georgia by Sep. 30 and the EU said last week that 66,000 Russians had entered the bloc in the week to Sep. 25.

In Mongolia, border officials reported that more than 12,000 Russians entered the country by Oct. 2, Bloomberg said.
