Midterm-verkiezingen VS: Strijd om de Senaatszetels
November 8, 2022 - Republicans need to pick up only one seat to win control of the Senate in the U.S. midterm elections, which would allow them to block much of President Joe Biden’s agenda.
The chamber is currently split 50-50 between Republicans and Democrats, who are able to control the agenda thanks to Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote. Democrats hope to expand their margin, according to Reuters.
There are 35 seats up for re-election in 2022 – including a special election in Oklahoma – of which 21 are held by the Republicans.
