Transfer-onrust bij Manchester United

By Chris Dinsdale

August 22, 2022 - England’s 31st Premier League season is underway, with Champions League qualification, fierce rivalries, title glory or relegation all set to be decided over 380 enthralling matches. Enduring their worst start to a Premier League season since 1992, Manchester United face rivals Liverpool, as their transfer policy comes under sustained scrutiny.

Manchester United have floundered in the summer transfer window, attracting heavy criticism for a lamentable transfer policy since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. New coach Erik ten Hag is frustrated at perceived failure to sign primary targets, as well as ongoing friction with Cristiano Ronaldo. New recruits signed this summer include Christian Eriksen (unattached) and Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

United have spent more on transfers than any other club in Europe’s top five leagues in last decade. More than £1bn has been splurged on 33 acquisitions, including Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire and Romelu Lukaku.
