June 22, 2022 - An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 has killed more than 900 people and left hundreds more injured in Afghanistan. The majority of the confirmed deaths were in the southeastern province of Paktika.
Wednesday's quake was the deadliest since 2002. It struck about 44km from the southeastern city of Khost, near the border with Pakistan, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The toll is expected to grow as information trickles in from remote mountain villages, Reuters said.
