June 14, 2022 - Russian forces destroyed all three bridges to the embattled Ukrainian city of Severodonetsk, making evacuation of civilians impossible, a Ukrainian official said.
“The situation in Severodonetsk is extremely aggravated – the Russians are destroying high-rise buildings and Azot,” Serhiy Gaidai, governor of the Luhansk region, said in a post on Telegram.
A day earlier he said hundreds of civilians were sheltering in the grounds of the Azot chemical plant, which had been shelled by Russian forces.
In the north, Russia's military have likely made small advances in the Kharkiv region in Ukraine for the first time in several weeks.
Meanwhile the UK intelligence says funding from the Russian government is allowing the country’s defence industrial base to be “slowly mobilised to meet demands placed on it” by the war in Ukraine.
However, the industry could struggle to meet many of these requirements, partly due to the effects of sanctions and lack of expertise, it says.
