PGA Tour schorst spelers voor deelname aan LIV International Golf Series
June 10, 2022 - The PGA Tour has suspended members competing in the controversial Saudi-backed LIV International Golf Series -- as the bitter power struggle rocking the sport intensifies.
LIV Golf is a start-up organisation headed by two-time major winner Greg Norman -- funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which provided finance for the recent takeover of Premier League team, Newcastle United.
In March, LIV Golf announced a $250m eight-event invitational series, with a further £1.6bn of funding to expand to a 14-league series by 2024.
Players suspended from PGA Tour:
Sergio Garcia*, Talor Gooch, Branden Grace*, Dustin Johnson*, Matt Jones, Martin Kaymer*, Graeme McDowell*, Phil Mickelson, Kevin Na*, Andy Ogletree, Louis Oosthuizen*, Turk Pettit*, Ian Poulter, Charl Schwartzel*, Hudson Swafford, Peter Uihlein, Lee Westwood.
