Orkaan Agatha op weg naar toeristengebied van Mexico

May 30, 2022 - The East Pacific’s first named storm of the year – Agatha – is predicted to strike as a powerful Category 3 hurricane Monday along a stretch of tourist beaches and fishing towns in southern Mexico.

The U.S. National Hurricane Centre said Agatha was expected to make landfall in the area near Puerto Escondido and Puerto Angel in the state of Oaxaca – a region that includes the tourist resorts of Huatulco, Mazunte and Zipolite, AP said.

The centre warned that the hurricane could deliver a dangerous storm surge and could have winds of 193 kph when it makes landfall.
