April 20, 2022 - President Emmanuel Macron is leading far-right challenger Marine Le Pen in polls ahead of France’s election run-off.

Incumbent French President Emmanuel Macron has seen his lead widen in voting intention polls ahead of Sunday’s French election.

Three second-round runoff polls put Macron at his highest level since before the first round of voting, with an average of 55.8%.

An Ipsos poll sees Macron winning 56.5% of the vote to far-right challenger Marine Le Pen’s 43.5%.

Opinionway’s poll declares Marcon on 56% – Le Pen on 44%.

Ifop finds Macron with 54.5% and Le Pen behind with 45.5%.

The three polls show Macron with his highest share of voting intentions since before the first-round vote on April 10.

Le Pen has accused Macron's camp of using fearmongering to sway voters. In the past Le Pen has voiced admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and has said she would pull France out of NATO’s integrated military command.
