February 4, 2022 - February 20, 2022 - The 2022 winter Olympic Games, officially known as the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, take place in Beijing, China.

The Parallel Giant Slalom (PGS) event includes two evenly spaced courses (10-15 meters apart) with vertical distances of 20-27 meters between turning gates, allowing for speeds of up to 70km/h.

Once qualifications are complete, racers are placed in a head to head knockout format, starting with 16 athletes and moving to a final race for gold and silver. The course is long, resulting in high speeds, while racing against an opponent on a similar course placed parallel to the other.

PGS became an Olympic event at the Salt Lake Games in 2002, when it replaced Giant Slalom which had debuted only four years earlier at the Nagano Olympics in Japan.
