December 13, 2021 - The draw for the Last 16 in the Champions League has taken place in Nyon, Switzerland, as the tournament reaches the knockout stages. The draw pits defending champions Chelsea against impressive French outfit Lille. Elsewhere ties of the round include 2020 finalists Paris St-Germain, with Lionel Messi, against 13-time champions Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid facing Manchester United, and Ajax and Liverpool -- with their perfect group stage records -- clash with Benfica and Internazionale respectively. The matches begin February 15-16.

The 2021-22 UEFA Champions League is the 30th season of Europe’s primary club football tournament.

Chelsea are defending champions having defeated English Premier League rivals Manchester City in the 2021 final.

Real Madrid are the most successful club in European Cup history, with 13 titles, ahead of AC Milan (7), Bayern Munich (6) and Liverpool (6).

The UEFA Champions League is contested by the highest ranked teams of the strongest UEFA national associations. It is the top club competition in European football and one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. The Champions League final is the most watched annual sporting event worldwide.
