Key events included the Tokyo Olympics finally taking place, Italy defeating England at UEFA Euro 2021, and Max Verstappen ending Lewis Hamilton’s continued of Formula One. Other individuals hitting the heights included tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Emma Raducanu, golfers Hideki Matsuyama and Phil Mickelson, and athlete Karsten Warholm.
