Beijing 2022 Olympische Ski Cross

By Ninian Carter

February 4, 2022 - February 20, 2022 - The 2022 winter Olympic Games, officially known as the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, take place in Beijing, China.

Ski Cross is a type of skiing competition where, following individual timed qualification rounds, four skiers race head-to-head down a course of gates, featuring jumps, banked corners and other sculpted obstacles. This sets it apart from all other skiing disciplines where athletes perform individually.

The sport made its debut at the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010, and has been a popular event in the Olympic calendar ever since.

In 2013, it was cut from the Winter X Games (along with Snowboard Cross) due to the high cost of building the course – up to that point, it had featured in every Winter X Games since 1997.

Ski Cross is deemed a freestyle event, rather than an Alpine one, by the International Ski Federation (FIS).
