NAVO versnelt evacuaties Afghanistan door toenemende kritiek
August 20, 2021 - NATO says more than 18,000 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan by air since Taliban insurgents took over the capital, Kabul.
Thousands of people, desperate to flee Afghanistan, are surrounding Kabul airport, despite the Taliban telling people without legal travel documents to return home.
NATO claim more than 18,000 people have been flown out of Afghanistan since its capital Kabul, came under Taliban control on August 15.
The speed at which the Taliban conquered Afghanistan, as the U.S. and coalition partners withdrew forces, has taken many countries by surprise – leading to widespread criticism levelled at U.S. President Biden, NATO and many other Western powers, accusing them of a chaotic, unprepared exit strategy.
