September 14, 2021 - May 28, 2022 - Europe’s premier club competition opens with the group stage on September 14, featuring 32 teams bidding to be crowned European Champions including 2020-21 winners Chelsea. The knockout stage begins on February 16, 2022 with the Round of 16, and culminates in the Final at Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg on May 28, 2022.

The 2021-22 UEFA Champions League is the 30th season of Europe’s primary club football tournament.

Chelsea are defending champions having defeated English Premier League rivals Manchester City in the 2021 final.

Real Madrid are the most successful club in European Cup history, with 13 titles, ahead of AC Milan (7), Bayern Munich (6) and Liverpool (6).

The UEFA Champions League is contested by the highest ranked teams of the strongest UEFA national associations. It is the top club competition in European football and one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. The Champions League final is the most watched annual sporting event worldwide.
