By Chris Dinsdale

June 16, 2021 - Portugal talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has become the all-time record goalscorer at the UEFA European Championships after striking twice during his team’s opening 3-0 victory over Hungary in Budapest.

With his 11th strike, Ronaldo now heads an illustrious list of players with notable goal tallies at the European showpiece, including Michel Platini (9) and Alan Shearer (7).

The Portuguese captain, 36, also became the first player to appear at five UEFA European Championships -- 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020.
